Working With Other Departments
The Egypt Centre is part of the non-academic part of the University though has worked with a number of academic departments. However, we feel that we may be able to help others too, subject to available resources. Please do not feel constrained by the fact that we are a museum of Egyptian antiquities, our artefacts are multivocal, they can be used in a number of ways. Indeed, Egyptology is not in the National Curriculum for Wales, but we are an attraction for students studying mathematics, design and technology, literacy, religion, etc. We can offer advice on Egyptology, museology, material culture, object-centred learning, volunteer management, gender studies, etc. There are also other topics which we may be able to assist in, for example history of art, theoretical approaches to history, philosophy, etc. We also feel that you may be able to offer the Egypt Centre as an added incentive to attract potential students. The Museum has an excellent record of its student volunteers finding museum work, as well as enhancing the quality of life of all its visitors.
